almost too much chocolate …

as if there could be such a thing. But this is close!  I found this recipe and decided to try it yesterday. Triple chocolate chunk cookies:

The consistency is more like a brownie than a cookie.  There are three infusions of chocolate – melted for the batter, chocolate chips or chunks added to the batter, then a chocolate pastille or chunk added to the top.

The recipe makes four dozen, but I halved it.  [I also have four bananas that are at peak rottenness ripeness and will make a double batch of the banana cakes recipe today or tomorrow and I didn’t want to have a lot of baking laying around.  Although the big fella has been sulking and whiney when there’s not a piece of baking in the house.]

The recipe calls for 12-14 minutes of baking but I let them bake 15.5 minutes.  They have to cool on the sheets for a good 10 minutes, then cool completely on a wire rack.  The result is like a brownie cookie, very cakey and moist.
