those middle of the night phone calls

The big fella had been working away for a few days last week; he got home on Saturday about noon.  We enjoyed a quiet weekend together, and of course the princess was happy to see her daddy:

both of 'em fast asleep

We were woken up at 3:30 a.m. today with the sad news that the big fella’s mother had passed away.  It wasn’t totally unexpected; she was almost 93 and the past four months had various issues of failing health.  There are arrangements and things to be dealt with now, so the big fella is starting that process.

  1. I’m sorry to hear of your family’s loss, Terri. Will light a candle for you all. (Wish they had let you sleep on a bit before phoning with the news. Hope you are doing ok.)

  2. I’m sorry to hear of your loss, Terri. I am familiar with that exact same middle of the night phone call, and it is not easy. I wish for you strength to support ‘the big fella’.

  3. I’m sorry for your loss. No matter how old and how expected, it’s never easy. A mom is a mom. I’m glad he has some cuddlegreys to hug.
